(March 13, 2009—Los Angeles, CA)—The much anticipated, Seventh-Annual Wine Aficionado Dinner benefiting the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program will take place on Thursday, May 14th at the spectacular Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. This year’s event, titled “2005: Vintage of the Millennium (so far!),” is destined to sell out once again. “Our committee has searched from Bordeaux to Napa for the best wines from the historic 2005 vintage and Chef Joachim Splichal has put together an astonishing menu which makes them sing,” comments Bogart board member Sandra Rapke. “For six years this event has sold out because not only is it a fun event for wine lovers and collectors from the worlds of entertainment, philanthropy, and finance, it’s also a great way to give to a wonderful cause,” she adds. Tickets for the dinner are $1,250 per person or $10,000 per table of ten, and are available for purchase by calling 323.330.0520 or email to info@bogartfoundation.org.

With only a limited number of seats available, this intimate fundraiser has become the must-attend event for wine lovers in Los Angeles. The evening begins with a champagne reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by Chef Splichal’s sumptuous four-course dinner at 7:30 p.m. in Disney Hall’s stunning BP Hall.

“The Bogart Wine Aficionado Dinner is the hands-down top high-end food and wine event of the year,” comments Bogart board member Jeff Smith. “The 2005 vintage was excellent in so many wine regions. For many people, this dinner potentially presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to taste some very rare wines which are fated to become legends.”

The evening, aptly called “2005: Vintage of the Millennium (so far!),” features three flights, each comprised of two to three wines from different wine regions across the globe, all of which are from the great 2005 vintage. The various flights will feature highly sought after wines such as the 98-point Robert Parker rated 2005 Clos Fourtet from St-Emilion in Bordeaux, the incredibly rare 2005 Rion Clos de Vougeot from Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, and the 97-point Robert Parker rated 2005 Colgin IX Estate Napa Valley Red Wine from California. Each of the wines is carefully selected and sourced by the Dinner Committee, all of whom are wine experts and collectors.

“We looked carefully at every detail in the Wine Aficionado dinner to make sure only the best is presented at every step,” notes Creative Artist Agency literary agent and event planning committee member Bob Bookman. “Anyone interested in experiencing the “A-list” of wine, food, atmosphere and service need look no further.”

One of the evening’s highlights is a live auction featuring one-of-a kind lots such as a coveted seat on the Robb Report “Car of the Year” panel; two exclusive “Best Cellars” lots featuring highly-rated 2005 vintage wines from around the globe; “Everything’s Coming Up Rosens,” a private movie screening in the home of Fred and Nadine Rosen; a progressive dinner for four couples in four of Los Angeles’ top elite homes; and a sports package featuring an exclusive private tour of the Gary Cypres Sports Museum of Los Angeles.

The motivation for this high class revelry is the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program, which conducts the leukemia and cancer research for infants, children, and adolescents at the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Over the last six years, the Wine Aficionado Dinner has raised over $1.45 Million for the Bogart Research Program. Funds raised by Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program enable the foundation to receive more support for its research and care, resulting in eight to ten dollars in research grants for every dollar raised.

About the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program
Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research ProgramThe Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program’s primary purpose is the financial support of the Bogart Labs at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Bogart is dedicated to continue its support for those programs and projects that are on the cutting edge of "bench to bedside" research. Bogart funds the diagnosis, treatment, care and cure of leukemia, cancer and AIDS by funding on a research development grant basis. This funding enables the foundation to secure more substantial support from other funding sources.

Named in memory of Neil Bogart, the late record and film executive who died of lymphoma at the age of 39, The Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program was founded in 1984. Looking to celebrate his life, friends, family and colleagues linked efforts with the beginnings of a pediatric program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Songwriter Carole Bayer Sager and Neil’s widow Joyce Bogart Trabulus cited as an inspiration his love of children and his resolve that one person could make a difference. Today, Bogart, which supported one small laboratory, now supports several research programs whose impact is felt across the world.

The exciting research that goes into the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program is a result of the unique combination of the leadership, talent and ideas of the researchers and clinicians; the research funding from Bogart; the facilities, staff and patients of the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA); and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).

An idea begins in the mind of a researcher and is funded by seed grants from Bogart. As the research shows promise, more traditional funding sources are available to expand the research. Because of the relationship between the Labs and CHLA, research jumps at the earliest stage from the bench to bedside of a child, where it is needed most. Through the COG, medical professionals at 120 member facilities around the world have access to this research and are able to cross reference their patients and treatments with the latest protocols.
